An ancient sunken city of the coast of Japan, deep beneath the waves…I think I just found the setting for my next story about Captain Tung, Independent Recovery Contractor. I snagged a helpful bit of information from Pat Esden on hunting down a good agent, and bagging the contract when you find one. The article is by Ethan Ellenberg, so it gives the inside view from the agent perspective. In honor of Talk Like a Pirate Day, I’ve sent my submissions out in true pirate style. The five-year old and I bought 100 daffodill bulbs today and chopped our way past the one thousand and one rocks, through the brick-like clay, and passed the construction debris to put thirty of them in the ground.  I seriously pulled out one chunk of concrete the size of a dinner plate. You’ll forgive me if I feel like a lot of people are dying of late…just my perspective, I’m sure. So what’s the oldest-latest scheme for making money? The art of Necropants, as detailed in the Icelandic Museum of Sorcery and Witchcraft. I’ll let you read it from the source, but be warned that it involves wearing a dead man’s skin as pants. I’ve been enjoying the fluff and stuff hitting the fan over the SFWA vs. Cory Doctorow showdown. I’m aware that my finding the whole thing amusing is probably unkind, just as my quietly laughing when I whiz by people stuck in traffic, while I take the commuter lane, is undoubtably small-minded of me. Reading about the HypoSurface Walls reminded me of watching an interactive, animated, 3D movie, in Disney World.  A screen that can move and stretch would take the ‘make it real’ factor up a notch or two. Especially if they combined it with a screen that went all the way around the viewer. First let me direct you all to Every Day Fiction and my story, Sweet Revenge. This is my first publication to go live this year.  I’m excited to chat in their comments with any readers who stop by. Yesterday I recieved a heavy box full of my next batch of textbooks. Nine books for the Modern China class, two for World History, and one for Modern US History. I pulled out my school calender and got busy with a highlighter and pen, fitting these classes into the schedule. |
