We’re in! The last piece of our puzzle, the hotel suite, just fell into place. We’ve got the tickets, of course the membership/passes, and now the room. Yahoo!
We’ve been so crazy busy, and life has been so crowded, I’m not sure I believed this would work out. Of course, we’ll still have to get ourselves […]

My writing focus lately has been firmly fixed on plotting. While of course I have many candidates for my writing attention, I think my total lack of grok when it comes to plotting is my biggest pitfall.
So I’m collecting books (which I’ll review as I finish them), have been listening carefully to various better-published writers […]
I happened to link to my LJ tonight and noticed that it’s been just a few months shy of a year since I last posted there.
Uhm…oops.
I never intended it to compete with this one, but by any standard of regular blogging, that’s still pathetic. So I decided to take pity on the poor thing and […]
Much Needed Writing Direction
Published by April 7th, 2008 in Writing and The Human Condition. 2 CommentsThis should really come with a warning label: All writers, before watching this video, please attend to any restroom needs, find a quiet place, and lay down on the floor in preperation for rolling, howling, or generally reverting to ape-like behavior.
We only caught the last four hours, but Stellercon was great! I definitely like the relaxed, intimate atmosphere. If felt like the lines between categories of people were blurred, so guests could mingle and people could chat without nerves getting in the way.

I got the call today on my latest entry, Shards of Honor. Here’s the list on the wotf blog. I’m honored to find myself initiated into this group, and also into the prestigious group of writers who can say they’ve had their name misspelled. We’re a very selective group, you know. [edit: My name has […]

You’re wondering what this […]
Pat Esden’s got a good blog up about using our childhood memories in writing. It’s a long-ish post, so my sum-up won’t do it justice, but the point I walked away with is that we can mine our memories for their emotional strength, rather than their details. Of course, I’m pretty sure I’ve heard OSC make […]
Close Encounters of the Peanut Kind
Published by January 15th, 2008 in Writing and Home in the Rookery. 2 CommentsAs some of you know, I have a peanut allergy that’s fairly severe. Most the time it’s not a big deal–I carry my Epipen in my purse, which also has a stash of Benadryl, and usually remember my medic alert ID, but it’s not something I lose sleep over.
Sunday, while helping clean up the kiddie […]
A very sleepy rollercoaster of a dragon has been awakened on From the Asylum. I’m tempted to send my condolences over his lost sleep, but as I’m the one who deprived him of it, I’ll settle for sending sweet dreams.
