WorldCon and Submissions

I have my WorldCon schedule–and let me just say, it is sooo awesome to have a WorldCon schedule!
I’m on a panel Saturday at 2:30 (or 14:30) with the working title of ‘Getting to the top: Mountains in Fact and Fiction’.  Should be fun.
I’ll also be hanging out at the Hadley Rille Books Ruins signing, assuming such a […]

Sample Taste of IGMS

Orson Scott Card’s Intergalactic Medicine Show is doing a promotion in which one story from several issues is free!
I’ve read several of these stories (since I generally buy a subscription) and can tell you that these are great stories, nothing to sneeze at.  Tabloid Reporter, especially, will keep you chuckling at random points throughout the rest of […]

My Doubly-Delayed Announcement

I mentioned before that I would be making an announcement about a new venture, but our guidelines didn’t satisfy and I felt I should plead the fifth rather than stumble through an apologetic attempt at posting the guidelines here.  However, after sending the entire editorial board off to wrestle Syrian spiders (rather like Bengalese tigers, but with more […]

Storm’s Rising and New Venture

My flash story Storm’s Rising is up at EDF.  I’ll look forward to chatting with all of you in the comments section.
Soon I hope to disclose the guidelines for a new venture I’ll be a part of–just as soon as we can stop arguing, err, ’discussing’ those guidelines and make it all official.  I’m very excited.

A Lovely amd Promising Collection

In my completely unbiased opinion!  My contributer copy of Extraterrestrial Ruins came today–and who needs tricks or treats after that?
I’m looking forward to reading the other stories included, it will be interesting to see how many ways we could spin the same theme.  I expect a wide range of variation, given how differently my writing […]

How often can you get a discounted alien these days?  Not a common thing, right?  Well, we’re selling our aliens and extraterrestrial worlds CHEAP, on amazon now!  Get yours before the centaurians, ferooni-sha and galactic collectors of the Senorian Federation buy us out!

HINT: Around the halfway point in the anthology there’s an interesting sci fi adventure […]

A Scabby Interview

Pat Esden has posted an interview with Ginger Churchill, so you can get all your scabby facts straight.  I’m delighted to report that my copy of the book, Carmen’s Sticky Scab, is coming soon from Amazon.  Can you guess what my five-year-old will be doing this Christmas morning?  Looking for a scab to pick!

Bovine Aspirations Debut

My story of a singing cow (and her not-so-gullible neighbor) is up on Bewildering Stories.  It’s short, funny and free–enjoy!

On a side note, I looked up the spelling of gullible on dictionary.com, and liked this explanation of its origin:
“1793 (implied in gullibility), earlier cullibility (1728), probably connected to gull, a cant term for “dupe, sucker” (1594), which is […]

Robert Jordan

You’ll forgive me if I feel like a lot of people are dying of late…just my perspective, I’m sure.
Robert Jordan was a wonderful author, with an incredible series populated by fascinating people.  My condolences to his wife and family, and my thanks to the folks who put together this nice tribute.

A Comedy of Errors and a Memorial Revisited

I’ve been enjoying the fluff and stuff hitting the fan over the SFWA vs. Cory Doctorow showdown.  I’m aware that my finding the whole thing amusing is probably unkind, just as my quietly laughing when I whiz by people stuck in traffic, while I take the commuter lane, is undoubtably small-minded of me.
I’ll try to […]
