Hooray for Popcorn, minus the Exclamation
This is the blog in which I turn cartwheels and max out my exclamation quota for the year. This blog anounces that last night, in the wee hours of the morning, I finished the first draft of Popcorn Potion.
Now, this is very exciting–even though I know I’m writing in a montone. It’s only that I can’t whoop and dance when I’m too tired to stand, can’t shout from the housetops when I’d rather climb into bed.
The funny thing is, the last few nights I could barely make myself sleep. I was like a kid on Christmas Eve, knowing they need to sleep but way too wound up to do it properly. I guess the holiday’s arrived, the sugar high has passed, and it’s time to take a long winter’s nap.
So, if all of you would be so kind as to whoop on my behalf, or maybe even throw a bit of popcorn, that would be great. I’m sure I’ll join you just as soon as I wake up.

Hooray! I love and hate those last few very frenzied days on a novel. Last time I did that was the first time in my married life I’d finished a novel, and I think that my poor husband thought I was probably never going to talk to him again! I was manic.
Congratulations! A real, tangible milestone.
(Mmmmffff)**(chomp) Please pass the salt…
Lol, you guys give me energy, just from reading your comments! Thank you–and Greg, I’m glad you’re enjoying the popcorn. It’s on the house.
Cindy, congrats on keeping those novels churning through all of life changes. That may be the truest test of a writer. Oh, and I’ll let my dh know that so long as I fall short of manic, I must be doing okay.
Well, I could be doing a lot better, but it’s more do to health than life changes.
But hey, slow and steady wins the race too.
And yeah – I kept doing things like laying down to take a nap with him, staying in bed five minutes and then bouncing up with a glint in my eye – “I just figured out what to do next! I have to go! Love you, have a good nap!”
Luckily he has his things that he is obsessive about too (like computer programming, the weirdo), so he forgave me.
